Latest ROM Images

HTC posts the latest ROM images for its US partners, Cingular and T-Mobile, to: http://www.htcamerica.net/support/.  Unfortunately, towards the end of 2006, they have taken down the T-Mobile images. The Cingular images are still available and work fine in both Cingular and T-Mobile devices although you may run into the CID locking issue mentioned below.  Fortunately, these problems are easily solved.

I've heard from several folks that have been unable to flash a device with a ROM image from a different manufacturer.  It appears that some phones such as mine have the Carrier ID set to the default setting and they are able to install any Carriers ROM images.  Others set the CID and the HTC flasher won't install unless the image is from the same carrier as the currently install image.  Fortunately, there is a work around available in a wonderful little tool called SPV Services available at: http://www.spv-developers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236 that can be used to reset the CID.  If you have trouble with SPV Services and get a negative return code, see the unlocking section.

I-mate also makes their latest ROM images available: http://www.clubimate.com.  You need to register a device to get access to the device downloads.  You can't register without an I-Mate IMEI but you can download from their FTP site.  I tried this image in a T-Mobile SDA and it works well: ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/i-mate_SP5m_WWE_2.6.331.2.zip.
